Prior to getting ready for a big move, do an inventory to see what you want to keep, give a way, donate, etc. You do not want to waste the time, money, and energy to pack and move items that you no longer need and want. When packing boxes, make sure you have the heavier items such as books in smaller boxes that are easier to carry and handle. The heavy boxes are stored on the bottom and lighter boxes on top. For your fragile items, make sure you have enough packing material and mark fragile on top and sides where it is visible. If possible, bring the fragile items ahead or take along with you in the car. Label boxes in the rooms where they belong. It will not only be easier to unpack, but you will be able to find items you need. To help objects from shifting and breaking, make sure you fill in all empty spaces and tape the boxes closed. Do not wait to the last minute. With everything being organized and done prior, the move will be a smooth transition.
