Today, March 20, 2017, is the first day of Spring or Vernal Equinox. Vernal means “new or fresh like spring,” and Equinox is a Latin term meaning “equal night.” The night and day are to be about the same in length. In the Northern Hemisphere, it is spring, and it is fall in the Southern Hemisphere.
